Get to Know These 6 Sharp Barbering Tools and Their Uses

There are specific tools that barbers use to perform their job and to efficiently achieve the looks that their customers desire. From research, from experienced barbers and also from barbering courses online and in beauty schools, you will get to learn that every tool has an important job. You will understand that not all tools are just “scissors”. There’s so much more which you might have not known of yet. You probably just see them but don’t clearly know their relevance.

To help you understand these barbering tools, their actual differences and their uniqueness, below are 6 of them:

[1] SCISSORS

A barber is not completely a barber without a pair of scissors. Hairdressers are also the same. Again, not all barbering tools are scissors, but of course, it’s a good thing to start with them, the basic.

It is an indispensable tool every barber must possess. There are scissors for cloth and for paper, but scissors for the hair are special for what they are intended to arrive at.

You can see that there are many scissors on a barber’s working table, but they don’t just belong to one kind. They come in different types created and designed specifically either for long or short hair. Different hairstyles are achieved not only with one pair of scissors but with many.

[2] SHEARS

Sharper than scissors, shears are designed to cut hair, finishing with clean and sharp cuts. When the hair already becomes hard to manage because of how thick it already has become, thinning shears are used to cut back some for a finer look.

If the hair is too high that it needs to be laid down, shears can be used effectively. The hair edges which seem sharp and rough can also be softened.

[3] ELECTRIC CLIPPER

Electric clippers are not scissors, so you won’t mistake them for any kind of them. Hair clippers are the manual versions, but this one, obviously is operated by a motor. Electric clippers have sharp razor blades that swing back and forth to function. They are made safe to the scalp while also efficient at haircutting. Other models of electric clippers have a vacuum portion that sucks loose hair.

Rotary, pivot and magnetic are the various kinds of electric clippers. If they are professional clippers, they have adjustable features that work on different lengths. The blades need regular oiling. Clippers like an electric clipper are secret weapons in cutting short hair and in eliminating large portions of thick hair which is most common in men.

[4] STRAIGHT RAZOR

Another main tool and one of the classic barbering tools is the straight razor. If it’s not being used, it can be folded so it looks like a penknife. This is used to clean the back of the neck and to add texture to the hair. Unlike thinning shears, this one is to give the hair some volume.

Having a straight razor is something to be grateful about because they are convenient, durable, not needed to be charged and not as costly as others. Excellent quality straight razors which are surely made for barbershops are more firm and well-built even if they are used several times every day.

[5] TWEEZERS

In cases of ingrown hair growth, a pair of tweezers will help. The same thing with bothersome hairs seen on the face, on the eyebrows and even somewhere above the upper lip.

There are actually various kinds of tweezers. Pointed tweezers are for the brows. Slanted tweezers are sharp unlike straight tweezers. For ingrown hair, the ideal type to use is the splinter tweezer because of the precision it lets you have aside from its sharpness. A magnifying glass comes with it too. Lastly, round tweezers are for general purposes since they are the safest to use.

[6] ELECTRIC TRIMMER

There are customers who want their beard short and clean. A barber trimmer is to be used. It cuts and trims the hair, and the beard can even be shaped in different forms and styles. If the client wants his hair and his look in general to show more of how he “personally” styled himself, a trimmer helps.

For careful, elaborate and impressive details on the hair, a good trimmer is needed as clippers cannot fully display the same results as when done with it. With proper use through enough time of study and practice, the shave as you use the trimmer will be really smooth. It’s also an advantage that the skin isn’t prone to getting injured by it.

BARBERING TOOLS

The above-mentioned are some of the general tools used by barbers as they give their clients the best look they can give. They are specifically focused on the sharps, but there are many other barbering tools and equipment used.

If you want to learn more about what they are and what they are used for, you can do your own research, ask around or take barbering courses for a close and direct experience.

Again, barbering isn’t just an ordinary thing as it may appear to many because together with its unique and helpful tools, it is a one of a kind service and art that requires patience and dedication too.
