HOW MY WINDOW TINT SAVED MY GRANDFATHER'S LIFE

It was scorching during July, and recurring heat waves just felt like the end of the world. I had regular blinds for the windows of my car. But they didn’t keep the heat out. I woke up and remembered that I forgot to get my laptop out of the car and didn’t park it in the garage. Well, as you guessed it, it was toast!

The direct heat from the sunlight caused its circuitry to malfunction. I was infuriated to the point of banging the laptop on the table. I knew I had to get the data recovered from the hard-drive, and the laptop was office property, so they’ll cover it.

I met with my friend later that day and told him about my ignorance and how it cost me a laptop. He started babbling and gave me a whole lecture on getting auto window tinting and its benefits. I was like, “How could that have helped. They’re just sunglasses for a car duh!” But he was very persuasive and insisting and said that it wasn’t that expensive as compared to the laptop I lost.

The very next day I searched for window tints for my car. There was a full range of colors to choose from. I’m a more simple type of guy and opted for dark black shade. The window tinting service wasn’t allowing me to get the darkest one. I wanted to keep the sunlight out, so it was obvious to choose the darkest tint. 

They told me there are some laws that I need to follow when getting the car window tinted. Some percentages were allowed in the state. I was surprised I wasn’t aware of these laws. I thanked the workshop guys and got the right tints that were legal.

I was pretty impressed by the job they did. While driving, I felt comfortable as the ac of the car was working better. I didn’t have my ac serviced, so how was this happening? The guys at the workshop told me that they would be installing a UV coated window tint film. But I never expected it to be this efficient.

On the way, I received a call from my grandpa. He had an appointment. I reached home and picked him up. He often complains about the ac not working properly, but today he didn’t mention it! Things were going smooth. I just crossed a junction and took a left towards the physiotherapist clinic.

There was a big truck that was ahead of us. It was overloaded. I was driving right behind it, trying to overtake but couldn’t. While passing the signal, I noticed that the furniture on the truck banged in the signboard above it. I instantly applied brakes but was under the board. The board came loose and fell on the windshield.

It all happened so fast; our hearts were pounding out of our chests. The front bonnet of my car was completely damaged. The windshield cracked but didn’t shatter. I was glad no one of us was harmed. The police arrived and asked around. My grandfather told them everything. He told us that we were fortunate as the windshield didn’t shatter. The shattered fragments could do a lot of damage to the occupants of the car.

He told me that the car window tinting protected the windshield from shattering completely. The force was enough to destroy an average windshield. They are made shatterproof, but the tinting film provided extra protection. Luckily my car was insured, and it wasn’t our fault, so the insurance decided to cover it. Getting my car windows tinted was the best decision I made. I made sure that all the cars in our house had them installed. They saved our lives.
