Next Big Trends in Pakistan's Education

The education sector has experienced serious growth in the past years. There have been many new educational trends to enhance the quality of learning for students. Pakistan has lagged behind in terms of the education system for some time, but thankfully it is starting to catch up. Here are some big upcoming trends in Pakistan’s education system.

e-Learning

E-learning, also known as electronic learning or online learning, refers to the utilization of technology in order to access education curriculum outside of the classroom. E-learning is an educational trend that has taken the world by storm, and even Pakistan has caught on to the many benefits it has to offer.

Several universities in the country have introduced online educational tools, such as LMS (learning management system) platforms, and even some distance study programs and online study options. Virtual University and Allama Iqbal Open University in particular are renowned for widely introducing e-learning at the university level in Pakistan.

Even at the matric and intermediate level, websites such as tutoria.pk are providing students with online self-study materials, such as previous 5 years past papers, practice quizzes, and book notes. These e-learning exam preparation materials can be accessed through any computer, laptop, tablet, or mobile phone. This makes studying with effective self-study materials, such as past papers, much more easily accessible.

Gamification

We are all too familiar with the traditional education system, which consisted of one-way lectures and minimal student participation, which led to incurable boredom. Luckily, one great educational trend which has started to infiltrate schools in Pakistan is gamification. This refers to the inclusion of game-like elements into the learning process, in order to motivate and encourage students to take an interest in their education. For example, class activities with a “points system”, or competitions.

At the elementary level, as well as at the matric and intermediate level, more and more teachers are introducing game-like activities to facilitate classroom learning. Particularly at the matric and intermediate level, teachers can quiz students from the past papers, or can have in-class past papers solving competitions, which encourage students to study while also providing effective exam preparation.

These are just two exciting educational trends which are being implemented by schools in Pakistan’s education system. Making more use of e-learning and gamification can greatly enhance students learning experience, while also providing effective exam preparation. The best part is that these educational trends can be implemented in elementary, matric and intermediate, and even university level!
