The Complete Recipe to Make a Single-Serving Margarita

Chicago is a city that represents a huge share of Mexican communities, which means Mexican restaurants and cocktail lounges are in abundance there. As such, people of Chicago are die-hard lovers of refreshing classic and extra-ordinary margaritas. No matter if it is your party or you have just opened a small bar or restaurant and are planning to serve margaritas in Chicago, IL, making margarita mix can be a piece of cake for you once you read our tips mentioned for preparing, and serving margaritas.

Basic Ingredients to Make Classic Margarita

You need just three basic ingredients to prepare a classic margarita mix whether you want to make it for a single serving or big barrel of margaritas for the party crowd.  The amount mentioned below is for single serving.

Tequila: The best option is to buy silver or reposado tequila. However, you can use any kind of tequila to make a margarita mix. Amount: 1 ½ ounces of tequila

Lime Juice: It must be freshly squeezed. Since it could be difficult to squeeze so many lemons on the spot if you are making for several people, it is best to use a citrus juicer. Amount: 1 ounce of lime juice

Orange Liqueur: There are several options when it comes to choosing orange liqueur. While Cointreau is a good choice, Grand Marinier also tastes amazing. Alternatively, you can also try a good quality Triple Sec. Amount: 1 ½ ounces of orange liqueur

Apart from these ingredients, if you like, you can also include additional ingredients.

Agave: To give a hint of sweetness to your margarita, mix some agave syrup to the mix.

Kosher Salt: For margaritas, salting the rim of glasses is like a tradition. If you want, you can use kosher salt on the rims of your glasses. Some people also like to add some Tajin into the salt.

Lime slices or wedges: Just for garnishing purpose

How to Make the Best Margarita for Your Guests

Here is the recipe for making single-serving margarita:

Salt the rim: First of all, if you want to salt the glass rim, rub juicy lime wedge around the rim (partial or full rim), then dip the rim in the coarse kosher salt and keep the glass aside.

Mix ingredients in the shaker: Combine your tequila, lime juice, and orange liqueur in a cocktail shaker. Also, add some ice cubes to the mix before shaking it. In case you don’t have a cocktail shaker, you can put all these ingredients in a mason jar or just stir these ingredients all together in a measuring cup.

Shake all the ingredients: Once you combine all these ingredients at one place, give a good shake or stir until everything is properly mixed and chilled.

Taste and add sweetener, if needed: Now, try how the mix tastes. If you think it needs extra sweetening, add in one or two teaspoons of agave or simple syrup to get the desired taste.

Strain and serve your margaritas: Now, when you have your perfect margarita mix, strain it in a glass. If you like, garnish it with a slice or wedge of lime. We would recommend adding large ice cubes as well so that ice doesn’t dilute the drink too quickly.

Now, you are ready to serve freshly prepared delicious margarita.
