What's a Facebook Like Worth?

Recently I have now been hearing Buy Facebook Likes lots of discussions about the "value" of Facebook likes, Real vs. Fake...

As usual, nearly all of what I hear is wrong so I decided to achieve this post to set things straight...

I'd like to first start with explaining the difference between a "real" like and a "fake" like.

A so called "real" like is really a like that's earned the "right" way... which means that such was done by a real individual who found real value in your website or post or page or whatever and decided to give you kudos by "liking" it...

Now onto the "fake" like; the fake like is really a like that's generated by any means other than what I described above...

There are always a multitudes of different techniques for getting a phony like, too many with this post, but here are a few:

1. Purchase like packages on microjob sites like Fiverr.com; you can get a couple of hundred to some thousand. These likes are typically generated with a bot (automated software package) that games Facebook security and erroneously adds dozens to tens of thousands of likes over days or weeks. The positive to this process is it is cheap... the negative is that bots may be sometimes be detected by Facebook security which can lead to your Facebook page being closed down. Recently Facebook announced it's plans to ramp up detection, you can read a good article about it here.

2. Purchase likes from a microworker site. This process involves buying "credits" or "tokens" on sites like Welikehits.com. These sites enable you to setup an account with your Facebook profile and then other folks get credits by liking your page or sharing, etc. You pay anywhere from -0 to buy credits that you then "spend" when someone likes your page; you can get thousands of credits for - normally. The main advantage of these sites is that real individuals with real accounts are liking your page, no automated script or bot... the negative is that the way in which these likes come to you is by way of a gateway page with a set ip address... meaning it is super easy for Facebook to inform that we were holding bought, and thus not count them.

Now onto the big question... can there be any value at all in "fake" likes?

The clear answer is really a resounding YES

Confused???

Allow me to explain...

Here are a some of the advantages of fake likes:

1. Usage of Facebook Analytics. Facebook only enables you to the access the analytics portion of one's control panel AFTER you reach 30 likes. By getting fake likes, you can access your computer data more quickly.

2. Usage of Facebook vanity URL. Facebook allows you to have a vanity URL only when you have 25 likes... the vanity URL is vital from the beginning, it enables you to have facebook/yourkeyword again, fake likes offers you access to this feature very quickly.

3. Nobody desires to like a full page that's zero likes... psychologically folks are FAR more prone to click that like button if you can find already several hundred or thousands of likes.

4. SEO value. Social signals are VERY vital that you SEO right now... some say as much as 1/3 of the puzzle... whatever the number happens to be, if you do SEO you KNOW that such things as followers, likes, etc play an important role in ranking your keywords on Google. If you are unable to generate these social signals the "right" way, getting the fake ones surpasses nothing.
