B.Tech is one of the most pursued degrees where lakhs of students appear in various colleges across the country. In India, all technical programmes such as B.Tech, fall under the regulatory purview of the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and the National Board of Accreditation (NBA). B.Tech admission takes place through national level/state-level/institute-level engineering entrance examinations. Some of the top engineering entrance exams that are taken by a large number of students every year for B.Tech admission are: JEE Main, JEE Advanced, VITEEE, MHT CET and TS EAMCET.

Bachelorof Technology is a 4-year full-time undergraduate course offering specialisations in various segments. Some of the most popular courses of B.Tech include:

  • Civil Engineering- It is a field that includes planning, construction and maintenance of roads, stadiums, dams etc.
  • Mechanical Engineering- This branch of engineering entails concepts of Mechanics, Thermodynamics, Robotics, Kinematics, Structural Mechanics, Fluid Mechanics, Power Sector, Refrigeration, Air Conditioning sector and Aerospace.
  • Computer Science: This branch of engineering includes Programming, Software Development, and Computer Science etc.
  • Electrical and Electronics Engineering: It includes designing, developing, testing, and administering the manufacturing of Electrical Equipment.

However, in some of the emerging universities of the country, Aeronautical Engineering, Automobile Engineering, Biotechnology Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Automation and Robotics, Chemical Engineering, Robotics Engineering etc.

What makes a college a premier institute?

Students who wish to go for in-depth study in their respective specialisation can opt for higher degree programmes such as M.Tech and PH.D. The quality of programmes that various universities offer gets determined by the quality of students it produces. A lot of new-age universities of the country have started giving multi-disciplinary approach to its students. These transferable skills make you more capable and versatile regardless of your industry or job title owing to widely applicable qualities like leadership, critical and analytical thinking, inventiveness, and communication.

Since knowledge is no longer limited to a particular field or set of disciplines, it’s imperative for students to get right kind of exposure for right kind of opportunities. Also, world has become far more complex place where having a ‘mere’ degree doesn’t solve the purpose. That’s why top universities of India now offer interdisciplinary academic excellence with the study of science and technology with humanities, ethics and philosophy, and design. They also strive for ‘Balanced Education’ with experience through entrepreneurial projects to solve complex challenges facing society.

Having international collaborations with various global universities and rendering immersion programmes are some of the key aspectsofthe premier engineering universities of India.
