What is HP Printer error code E2? How to fix it?

HP is a well-known brand for printers. HP Inc. manufactures computer hardware and other peripheral devices. HP offers a printer device for enterprises as well as to the home users. HP provides compact size printers so the user can place the printer anywhere. HP also provides a pocket printer which you can easily carry anywhere.

 

HP offers robust service but still many people get into issues like why is my HP printer showing offline status. Offline issues in HP printers can appear due to various reasons. One of the most common issues is HP printer error code E2.

This error appears when the printer is unable to communicate with the computer. But sometimes E2 errors can also appear due to cartridge issues. When you see this error, check the cartridges, printer driver for the issues. If you are unable to troubleshoot your printer error E2 then you should ask for HP technical help.

Common methods for troubleshooting HP printer error code E2:

Restart your HP Printer and PC

You can get into E2 error due to any kind of runtime issues. Restarting the printer and PC may fix the runtime error. When you get the error, press the power button of your printer and turn it off. Now pull off the USB cable from the printer and PC. Turn off your PC and wait for about 1 minute. Now restart your PC and press the power button of the printer. Reconnect the USB cables and give print command. Check whether your printer is taking commands or not.

 

Check for paper jamming

HP Printer Error E2 can appear due to paper jamming. When your computer gives a print command, the printer tries to access the sheet for printing but fails due to paper jam. You can’t take printouts until you fix the paper jam. Clean the printer for fixing the paper jam. Open the printer and check for a paper chunk. Remove the cartridge from your HP printer and then check for any kind of junk. Clean your printer with a dry cloth and then reinsert the cartridge. Now check the paper roller. If your roller has drawn multiple papers then take out the sheets and align them carefully. Now give a print command to check for the error. 

Remove the pending jobs

Many people get the HP printer E2 error due to pending jobs. If you have many print jobs in the queue then your printer may start showing various errors. To troubleshoot the error, you should remove all the pending jobs from your printer. Follow the given commands for deleting pending jobs:

  1. Go to start menu

  2. Type command on the search bar 

  3. Right-click on the command prompt

  4. Click on Run as administrator button

  5. Type net stop spooler

  6. Hit the Enter button

  7. Now type %systemroot%\System32\spool\printers 

  8. Press the Enter button

  9. Type net start spooler

  10. Press Enter button

Now all the print queue of your Windows PC will get cleared. Once you remove the queue from your printer; restart your device and give a print command to ensure that your printer is running without any error.

Check the print preferences

While printing, make sure you are selecting the appropriate parameters. If you are trying to print a page with wrong parameters or you are giving a print command on an inappropriate page then you may get into HP printer E2 error. You should only give print commands on printable documents like MS Word file. Open the file on Word and then press the ctrl and P keys from the desktop. The print wizard will appear on your screen. Go to properties and preferences. The HP printer window will appear on your screen. Select the paper option and check the default paper settings. Make sure you are choosing the appropriate paper size which is loaded on your printer. Now choose the number of prints and click on the OK button. Now click on the print command and check whether your printer is giving appropriate printouts or not.

Update your printer driver

Make sure your device is running on the latest update. If not then update the printer driver immediately. Go to the HP website and search for the latest update. After installing the updates, restart your device and check whether your error gets fixed or not. If not, ask the HP team for resolving your issues.
