Culinary Arts - Brockton Public Schools

Students enrolled in cooking school Brockton will experience various aspects of the foodservice industry. The goal of the program is to teach both culinary essentials and basic food service management, preparing students to fill the need for skilled managers within the restaurant industry. Students will participate in the operation of the Fine Arts Café student-operated restaurant. Students will learn how to safely use various hand tools, knife skills, and proper use of larger food preparation equipment. Safety and sanitation are the most important aspects of this program. Career choices and job opportunities will be visited, and students will be required to complete 400 hours paid internship within the hospitality industry to obtain certification. Students must pass the exam at the end of the course.

Cosmetology

Cosmetology is the study and application of beauty treatments, including hairstyling, skincare, cosmetics, manicures/pedicures, and permanent or non-permanent hair removal. Students can study a wide range of beauty treatments or specialize in a specific area, and there are plenty of career choices for qualified cosmetologists, including barber, hair color specialist, skincare consultants, while others move into more technical professions like aesthetics. Before practicing as a licensed aesthetician, students must complete between 260–1500 hours of training and pass a written and practical exam, although the requirements differ depending on where you would like to work.
