Reliable Solution for Poor Wi-Fi Coverage which does not cost much

The popularity of wireless networks in our homes results directly from the convenience of using this solution. We buy a router, connect a cable or modem from an Internet operator and it's ready. Sometimes we use mobile internet at home. Unfortunately, coverage is not always good enough. To improve it, you can use external antennas and Wifi repeaters.

If we have already located places where there are problems with network coverage and despite maneuvering the network equipment in various possible ways or changing the router settings, there is still no improvement, the only thing we have to do is go shopping.

What and why is it interfering with the WiFi signal?

There are many reasons why a WiFi signal does not reach all corners of your home. The most prosaic is the range of the router. In optimal conditions, a good router has a range of up to a hundred meters.

Usually, however, it is much smaller. It is influenced by walls, especially those with reinforcements, moreover, concrete ceilings, as well as other networks in various standards that disturb our signal.

We also often use less advanced routers provided by operators or the cheapest models that are not the best devices on the market. However, we can fix everything at a low cost or even for free.

How does a WiFi extender work?

The WiFi signal amplifier is most often a small device plugged directly into an electrical outlet, thanks to which it does not take up space and is unobtrusive. You can often use another WiFi router as a signal amplifier. Information about whether a given device can perform this function can be found in the user manual or directly in the settings.

WiFi extenders also take other names, such as WiFi reapeter or WiFi extender. These English terms sum up their operation well - such devices act as an "extension cord". When configuring the WiFi repeater, we need to connect it to our wireless network, the signal of which it then passes on. For example, if you have Netgear extender setup then we have to configure it with by visiting mywifiext.net. Unfortunately, it is not a directional forwarding, which means that the signal is spread in the direction where we already have coverage.

If we have such an opportunity, connect the range extender to the home internet network by wire, which will allow for higher speeds and access to the network even where we can barely catch the original range.

Go for the Netgear Extender Setup

This small device is able, unlike an AP, to extend the range of the network only when plugged into a power outlet - no cables between the Netgear Extender setup and router are required. This device connects to the center of our computer network via radio waves and transmits the received signal "further". In terms of the convenience of installation, this solution is therefore more favorable. Unfortunately, the configuration cannot be avoided here as well - the amplifier must know the signal of which network it is to "repeat". Many repeaters can work in the AP mode (similar to AP - in the repeater mode), so if we have such an option, it is worth connecting it with a twisted pair to the router, thanks to which we will gain the advantages mentioned above.
