8 Easy Ways to Avoid HP Printer Paper Jam Errors

Loosen the paper ream before loading: Often paper could be stuck. Before loading the paper in the tray, loosen the sheets by flexing, rolling, and fanning the sheets to separate them. If jams do occur try to feed one sheet at a time. 

Try to store paper in a dry and cool place. Ensure to store paper away from sunlight, heat, and humidity. Do not load creased, damp, wrinkled, or curled paper into your HP printer. 

Don’t overload your printer’s paper tray. This is one of the most common reasons for frequent paper jams. Ensure that the paper is loaded within the capacity of the tray. 

Check the alignment of the paper. Many printers have sliders that allow different types and sizes of paper to be fed in to the printer. When the slider isn't correctly put it can cause paper jams. Ensuring the adjustable guides are situated properly will avoid misfeeds. 

Paper type: Use only paper specified for your type of printer. Watch your User Manual for detailed information on media that is recommended. Using high quality papers, gum documents, hard jump papers and large size newspapers can usually lead to paper jams. Don't mix-n-match: Utilizing various sorts or measurements of newspaper at exactly the same tray can cause the paper to misfeed. 

Do not interrupt: Never remove paper wipes while print jobs have been in process. Only fill a vacant tray: Don't put in newspaper to existing paper. Allow tray to go empty before adding longer paper. 

Keep the printer clean: Paper dust and wear may cause moving parts to slide and maybe not nourish the paper properly. 

Keep toner or ink in good condition: Rotate your printer capsules if a printer is idle for a protracted period of time. Cartridges which are not useful for weeks can lead to printing problems.
