Pharmaceutical drugs are the most common forms of pills, capsules, tonics, syrups, and so on. Drugs come in a variety of packaging, which depends on a lot of things, namely their ability to stack, the type of pharmaceutical drugs they are, the method of administration, the content amount, and so on. 

Here are the most common types of pharmaceutical packaging: 

1. Blister packaging

Blister packs contain pills and capsules. They are usually aligned in rows and columns. They carry pills in even numbers like a minimum of four to a maximum of thirty. However, most packaging companies in India make blister packs available with ten pills.

This type of packaging is useful in quickly glimpsing the number of pills or capsules used thus far for consumption. It can be a good measure of avoiding overdosing. 

2. Strip packaging

Strip packs mostly contain tablets; they are similar in arrangement with blister packs. To open a strip pack, you need to tear it from one edge to another, whereas in a blister pack, you can remove the tablet only from one side, i.e., the aluminum foil side. 

Just like blister packaging, the strip packs offer easy measurability of the number of pills used. Strip packs offer better protection from the sun and are economical. 

3. Tinted bottles

Tonics and syrups are mostly available in tinted bottles. They are made either of glass or plastic; nowadays, most of the tinted bottles are available in plastic as the material is resistant to breakage. 

These bottles protect the content from sun rays and offer it a better life. You can often find capsules in tinted bottles, especially if they are in a large quantity. An example worth sharing is: a cod liver oil pill is a soft-shelled pill with oil inside. In small quantities, it is available in blister packs; however, in large quantities, it is available in tinted bottles. 

4. Sachets

Most drug and food packaging companies make medicines available in sachet forms. It is ideal for storing liquid, semi-solid and powdered drugs. Sachets are also useful for using measured doses. For taking an acidity relieving medicine, all you need to do is take one sachet, mix it with water and drink it. Even for drugs for regular consumption, sachets offer a good option for well-measured doses. 

The secondary packaging is available from pharma packaging companies in carton packs. This packaging is useful in a lot of ways. It helps in stacking during the transportation and storage process. It helps the customer know that there is no tampering or unauthorized use made with the drug. 

The primary and secondary packs of medicines are useful means of protecting them from environmental factors like sun rays and pollutants. They both carry the company's brand name, logo, and design. The secondary packs are more or less the same, i.e., carton packaging, albeit differ in terms of the dimensions. These types of packaging are hence the most common and applicable across all realms.
