Foods you should ban from your diet during your pregnancy

During pregnancy, you have to take care of not only yourself but your little bundle of joy also. The food you eat can be harmful or can also be helpful to the baby’s development. Cravings are obvious during the pregnancy but you cannot have everything, which you wish to have. You need to maintain a balanced diet. So, now you have to be more careful while making your food choices. At times, you might get angry also because your favorite food cannot also be the part of this list.   • Avoid all unpasteurized milk products-

You will have to cut down on all milk product sources. Avoid unpasteurized cheese. If you are a big fan of Mcflurry and McDonalds’ ice cream, then you need to avoid this completely during your pregnancy. These ice creams and shakes are made from unpasteurized milk sources. It is also dangerous to take raw milk. All these products contain harmful bacteria like listeria, cryptosporidium, salmonella, etc.

  • Raw sprouts-

Stop yourself from eating raw sprouts and vegetables which includes radish, sunflower, broccoli, soybean, mung bean, etc. These are highly prone to listeria and as you may know that listeriosis leads to premature birth, infections in a newborn baby, miscarriage, etc.

  • Say bye to certain vegetables and fruits-
  • Papaya- which is rich in latex and can lead to uterine contractions.
  • Black grapes- Builds up excess heat in the body and this can be harmful to the baby.
  • Pineapple- this is rich in bromelain which leads to softening the cervix and can lead to the early labor.
  • In veggies say no to cabbage and lettuce because they carry foodborne illness.
  • Excess Caffeine is not good for your health-

You need to stop having tea, chocolates, and other energy drinks. The high amount of caffeine could increase the chances of miscarriage. You should also avoid drinks like iced tea, diet soda, alcohol and soft drinks.

  • Say no to sugar-rich foods-

Stop eating sugar-rich foods like candies, ice-creams, desserts, and other sweet beverages.

  • Street foods-

In pregnancy, you can crave for street foods treats. However, you should control your cravings because street foods like sweet, spicy and sour foods are not good for health. They can increase the risk of food poisoning, infections.

  • Deli Meats-

Avoid eating ready to eat meats like sandwich meat, hot dogs, sliced meats, etc.

  • Do not eat raw or an undercooked egg-

Give up on soft boiled eggs, undercooked, raw as they are harmful and can cause food poisoning. You may experience a headache, vomiting, and high temperature. This may weaken your immune system.

  • Smoked seafood-

Refrigerator food and the smoked food are also not good.

  • Avoid eating fish which contains mercury-

Give up on fish like shark, king mackerel, etc because they contain the high level of mercury. It is an element found in oceans, lakes that is converted into methylmercury in the human body. It is known as a neurotoxin which leads to brain damage.
